The Assistant Buyer works under the supervision of a Buying Manager with daily direction from Buyers to perform an assortment of purchasing duties for product lines across all categories, including Grocery, Frozen, Dairy, Non‑Food, Produce, Meat, Bakery, HABA/GM, Deli, and DSD. The Assistant Buyer provides supply‑chain and inventory‑management support to Buyers and works closely with the buying team in the execution of promotional programming.

• Procure assigned product lines, working to maximize overall profitability.
• Complete data entry with accuracy and extreme attention to detail to maintain SKU integrity.
• Maintain proper inventory levels to ensure high service levels and minimal out‑of‑stocks.
• Communicate effectively with retail operations, retail pricing, advertising, space management and other departments, functioning as a liaison of the Buying Department.
• Keep key internal teams informed of promotions, cost advantages, product availability, market trends and vendor and item changes.
• Complete additional projects as requested.

• Education: Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience in grocery procurement or a closely related field.
• Experience: Preferred – Knowledge of the retail grocery industry and procurement practices.
• Ability To: Multi‑task and work in a fast‑paced, multiple‑priority environment; be extremely self‑motivated, take initiative and drive results; travel as needed to meet business needs.
