Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at check lanes.
• Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system; handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
• Adhere to company policies regarding cash shortages/overages and loss prevention.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and special ads.
• Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
• Perform preventive maintenance checks on equipment and report issues.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering questions about products.
• Follow all relevant laws and company guidelines.
• Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts cooperatively and professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Customer service experience
• Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
