Plant Sciences Research and Development Intern

The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join the Plant Pathology team at Molecular and Cell Biology R and D - Plant Sciences for Summer 2026. This internship offers hands‑on training and contributions to the Nematology program at Simplot Plant Sciences. The intern is expected to show strong willingness to learn, accept new challenges and should be able to work in conjunction with the pathology team to set up and carry out experiments.

• Design and conduct research on a short-term project.
• Plan and carry out high-throughput nematode screening.
• Troubleshoot, summarize, and report results.
• Present the research outcome at R&D meetings.

Pursuing Masters/PhD degree in Plant Pathology or related field.

• Familiarity with plant parasitic nematodes.
• Basic laboratory and troubleshooting skills and analytical ability.
• Familiarity with data analysis software and tools.
• High regards for quality work.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team and enjoy a team‑based environment.
• Highly collaborative, self‑motivated, and flexible.
• Good organization, written and verbal communication skills.
