Position Summary & Highlights- This position will support patient referrals for clinical and insurance qualifications for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program that is required to maintain the bariatric program accreditation.
- *** This position will work on-site on the Boise Regional Medical Center campus.***
- The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery program helps our patients achieve lasting weight loss and improved health, even curing long standing, obesity-related medical problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and sleep apnea in many patients. Our program is focused on helping our patients achieve their goals through a comprehensive approach that includes multi-disciplinary, dietary counseling and education, age and health appropriate exercise and precision, robotic surgery.
- At Saint Alphonsus, our Metabolic and Bariatric Center is an accredited "Comprehensive Center" by the American College of Surgeons. This means our patients can confidently place their trust in our team of experts to achieve excellent surgical weight loss outcomes for our patients by following comprehensive safety standards and protocols. - Receive and confirm insurance related information and coverage from patient referrals for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery program.
- Determine necessity for pre-authorization and obtain authorization for scheduled procedures.
- Enter patient insurance information into the patient record (Epic) and document insurance coverage of services to be provided.
- Notify patient of his/her financial responsibility for services to be provided. Notify patients and practitioners of any services requested and/or referred that are not authorized by insurance.
- Communicate with patients and practitioners regarding financial responsibility and insurance coverage issues.
- May work with projects that are insurance and prior authorization related.
- Healthcare front desk experience including outpatient clinic, registration, or billing and coding experience;
- Experience working with different insurance companies, surgeons/physicians, and other outpatient clinic staff;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Solid critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision;
- You will also be personable, positive, and have a cheerful attitude.
- 40 hours per week, Mondays - Fridays, 7:30am – 4:00pm.
- There may be some flexibility with this schedule.

Minimum Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Related healthcare experience preferred.
