Nurse Practitioner​/Physician Assistant - Medical Oncology - PT- Boise

About this Position

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) seeks an Oncology Advanced Practice Provider genuinely interested in oncology and benign hematology with a patient-centered approach to inpatient care provided at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. This position will partner with the Inpatient Oncology Hospitalist in a team-based model, Monday-Friday with weekend rotation coverage. The role may also support the Boise Saint Alphonsus Cancer Institute clinic based upon availability.

In collaboration with the hospitalist or another physician covering the oncology service, the qualified candidate will provide high-level independent services to hospital oncology patients. Responsibilities include rounding on follow-up patients on the oncology unit, performing initial chart reviews and communicating with the physician the information needed to develop a comprehensive consultation, obtaining informed consent for new patients, documenting and preparing discharge orders, conducting chemotherapy education visits, and performing bone marrow biopsies inpatient and in the outpatient clinic at SARMC as available.

The provider will triage oncology patients that come into the emergency department or direct admits from outpatient Cancer Institute locations, including managing the intake process. Compliance with standards of care and practice is required in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines, with timely consultation or referral to appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.

• Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner medical license in Idaho and Oregon; valid controlled substance registration with Idaho;
  Board of Pharmacy and DEA (and eventual registration with Oregon).
• Nurse Practitioner (NP):
  Successful completion of NP Graduate Program (Masters level preferred) and either AANP or ANCC certification.
• Physician Assistant (PA):
  Successful completion of PA Graduate Program (Masters level preferred) and NCCPA certification (PA-C).
• A strong medical background and a desire to develop a practice to support a growing multi-specialty medical group. Previous advanced practice provider experience in oncology or internal medicine preferred.
