Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an outpatient Clinical Oncology position, requiring an active compact RN license and two years of outpatient oncology experience.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care outpatient oncology clinic with 13 exam rooms
- Patient population includes solid tumor and benign hematology cases such as breast, prostate, GI, and lung cancers
- Providers include 4 MDs and 3 NP/PAs; average daily census is 18-20 patients per MD, 10-13 per NP/PA
- Shifts are 8 hours, Monday through Friday, with some possibility for 9-hour shifts and variable start times
- No weekend or holiday shift requirements
- No on-call requirements
- Required to float to four outpatient oncology sites in the Treasure Valley region, with the most common float being to Meridian
- Uses EPIC EMR system
- Primary responsibilities include triage, outgoing phone calls, phone assessments, patient education, care coordination, and assessments
- Work alongside a supportive team with MAs/CNAs assigned per provider and a nurse supervisor present daily
- Orientation includes 3-10 days in triage and with NP/PAs based on clinic needs
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests are accepted
- Any color scrubs may be worn as long as they are clean and professional
- The clinic has a high traveler retention rate and welcomes first-time travelers
- Active compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- ONC certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of outpatient oncology nursing experience required
- Triage experience preferred
- Must provide a driver’s license for consideration
- Must provide two professional references: one supervisor reference within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Previous permanent employees must be away from the facility for at least one year before applying as a traveler
