Base pay range: $70,780.00 per year – $ per year. This range is provided by U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

The Nurse (Outpatient Specialty) executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex specialty care.

• English Language Proficiency – must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f).
• Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
• Or individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's degree may seek registration before program completion.
• Upon achievement of a state license, the individual may be appointed on a temporary basis and later converted to a permanent appointment after graduation from the bridge program (reference VA Handbook 5005 – Appendix G6).
• Foreign school graduates: possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration in the U.S. or District of Columbia meets the requirement.
• Credit for foreign nursing education higher than an associate degree requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluator such as ICD.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or D.C.
• Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception: candidates who meet basic education requirements but lack licensure may be appointed at entry level on a 120‑day temporary appointment while pursuing licensure. Appointment may be extended up to two years on a case‑by‑case basis.
• Grandfathering Provision: all persons currently employed in VHA in 0610 series who performed the duties described are considered to have met all qualification requirements as of 1/29/2024.

• Preferred experience:
  
  2 years of medical/surgical or similar experience required; 1 year of outpatient clinic experience preferred.
