Overview

Conservation Voters for Idaho’s (CVI) mission is to create the political environment to protect the natural environment. CVI is seeking a Civic Engagement Associate/Coordinator to build CVI’s volunteer network, support CVIEF’s Boards & Commissions (B&C) Fellowship alumni, and lead advocacy trainings to empower Idahoans to engage with their elected officials. This position will work on a variety of mission-related topics including clean energy, climate resilience, and voting rights.

The Boards and Commissions Fellowship is designed to increase the representative diversity on Idaho boards and commissions. This role will support the Senior Civic Leadership Coordinator in organizing the annual fellowship program and will build an alumni network to support and engage fellows following graduations.

This role will also work with the Program Director to build CVI’s bench of advocates and volunteers to testify in the legislature, support elections work through door knocking and phone-banking, and represent CVI at events.

Primary Tasks and Areas of Responsibility
  • Maintain relationships with Boards & Commissions Fellowship graduates and share board opportunities to help facilitate appointments and ongoing engagement.
  • Identify, recruit, and build relationships with potential members, fellows, and candidates.
  • Attend in-person and virtual B&C Fellowship meetings and events.
  • Support the B&C Alumni Committee through organizing ongoing events and trainings for graduates of past B&C cohorts.
  • Build relationships with both advocacy organizations and organizations that provide direct services to underserved community members, in collaboration with the Senior Civic Leadership Coordinator.
  • With guidance from the CVI leadership staff, coordinate member activities, including calling legislators and other elected officials.
  • Organize and attend community events, meetings, and forums to promote CVI’s mission and opportunities for engagement.
  • Identify, coordinate, and staff events that help CVI grow our membership, partners and donors.
  • Work with Program Staff to track new contacts via tabling and canvassing efforts, coordinate data entry in the database, and build relationships to transform contacts into CVI members.
  • Connect potential new annual or monthly donors with CVI Development staff.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Program Director and Campaign Manager to assist with field organizing plans that support the organization’s strategic vision, program goals, elections, and other campaigns.
  • Coordinate with program staff to meet the outreach needs of CVI’s programs.
  • Conduct door‑to‑door canvassing, phone banking, and/or texting to reach potential supporters.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations on campaigns and turn out volunteers and members.
  • Administer field data to ensure accuracy and completeness within CVI’s database.
  • Utilize CVI’s database to pull accurate reports to support programs and outreach work.
  • Participate in CVI meetings, retreats, etc. as needed and complete all required paperwork (timesheets, work plans, etc.).
  • Attend fundraising events and meetings, as needed.
  • Participate in CVM meetings and/or trainings as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
