Job Summary
The Anesthesia Technician acts as a key support member of the anesthesia and procedural teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely patient care. This role involves preparing anesthesia equipment, assisting during procedures, maintaining anesthesia machines, and coordinating supplies to support anesthesiologists and clinical staff in a pediatric hospital environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between anesthesiologists and materials/supplies personnel to assist with supply management and improvements
- Perform a variety of anesthesia technical procedures
- Operate blood gas analyzing equipment according to manufacturer and laboratory guidelines
- Assist with invasive line preparation and monitoring during surgical procedures
- Identify and address breaks in technique to maintain patient safety
- Assist with room turnovers to support workflow efficiency
- Seek appropriate guidance when performing procedures beyond current expertise
- Serve as a preceptor and assist with orientation of students and staff
- Perform daily preventive maintenance checks on anesthesia machines, including filters, hoses, bellows, and soda lime
- Review patient, physician, and procedural requirements to ensure proper setup, equipment, and supply readiness
- Clean, restock, and maintain anesthesia carts and machines
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 12 months of Anesthesia Technician experience
- Pediatric experience
- Current BLS certification (AHA – Healthcare Provider)
- ASATT certification Required
