Beacon has an excellent opportunity available within our clinic as a Clinical Navigator. This role would start out as Monday-Wednesday with the expectation that we will grow to Monday through Thursday by about mid-year.
Responsibilities- Rooming patients, collecting vital signs, specimens, administers shots, and carries out orders (i.e., labs, biopsies, referrals)
- Assists with patient intake forms, including social and family history, medication list, review of systems and preventative measures.
- Prepares patient charts and reviews imaging, labs, pathology, and other reports to ensure all patient records are current.
- Schedules follow-up appointments with patients, prior-authorization procedures, and hospital admissions.
- Return phone calls within 24 to 48 hours of receipt.
- Monitors patient progress and evaluates follow up actions required to meet the patients’ needs by providing quality care throughout patient experience.
- Evaluates documents and distributes applicable clinical correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Completes phlebotomy, routine or specialty blood draws, handling of applicable specimen processing and quality controls.
- Perform EKG’s testing per provider orders.
- Performs medical refill requests and helps triage patient calls along with managing patient referrals to hospitals or other ambulatory facilities.
- Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patients.
- Assists providers with patient exams and procedures as needed.
- Compassionate and caring bedside manner.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Manages conflict with good resolutions.
- Ability to multi-task and anticipate needs of providers.
- Proficient in EKG, venipuncture, and managing lab work and genetic testing a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- CMA certificate or equivalent experience and willingness to earn CMA certification required.
- Three years of experience as a medical assistant or related role preferred.
- Medical oncology terminology strongly preferred.
- CPR/BLS certification, required upon hire.
