Whatdoes a Surveyor Technician do for us?
As part of the land survey function under the supervision of a Professional Land Surveyor, this individual provides company‑wide survey support on linear projects (transmission and distribution) and site projects (generation, substations, and facilities). They perform office support tasks including research, post‑processing of survey data, and drafting. Additionally, they also perform field work as part of a two‑person field crew or independently, operating Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and traditional survey equipment.

- Read and understand construction drawings and plat, feeder, and work order maps
- Associate’s degree in land surveying or computer‑aided drafting and design (CADD) technology with emphasis in land or civil drafting, or other related degree
- Related training (i.e. NSPS certified survey technician program) and 2 years of experience as a survey party chief
- Bachelor's Degree in geomatics, land surveying, or civil engineering with an emphasis in land surveying, or another related degree
- An equivalent combination of training and 4 years of experience as a survey party chief
- 3 years of experience as a member or leader of a field survey crew,
including 1 year of experience in survey or civil drafting - Capable of performing independent (solo) field work using GNSS and traditional survey instruments and post‑processing survey data
- 5 years of experience as a member or leader of a field survey crew
- 2 years of experience in survey or civil drafting
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
- Certification as a Land Survey Intern or ability to obtain Professional Land Surveyor license within 1 year
Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, squat, crouch, climb, twist, kneel and stand for long periods of time. Access survey locations over uneven terrain such as hills, mountains, rocks, structures and over fences. Lift and carry survey and GPS equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. 25% of work will be performed outdoors in a variety of adverse weather conditions including extreme heat and cold, snow, mud, dust and high winds.
