Project Engineer - Civil/Hydrology and Hydraulics

McMillen, Inc. is recruiting a Project Engineer with 6+ years of experience in water resources, dam safety, and hydroelectric-related engineering. The role focuses on design calculations, hydraulic and hydrologic analyses, and civil construction of hydraulic structures.

Responsibilities
  • Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
  • Work with engineers, geologists, hydrologists, and scientists to solve project challenges, performing design calculations and technical analyses as required.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses in support of dam safety and hydroelectric projects.
  • Prepare civil design for hydraulic structures; collaborate with the Design Technology group to develop engineering plan sets.
  • Utilize hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools such as HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS (1D/2D), HEC‑Res Sim, FLOW3D or similar industry-standard software.
  • Multi‑task across various disciplines and locations in support of dam, fisheries, and hydroelectric‑specific project work.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with a variety of subject‑matter experts and project contributors in a collaborative team environment.
  • Prepare technical deliverables including civil and hydrologic data reports and construction specifications.
  • Manage project tasks by maintaining client expectations and overseeing scope, schedule, and budgets.
  • Mentor junior engineers in a respectful, collaborative manner that promotes professional growth and positive team culture.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education activities.
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited university required (MS with a civil or water resources focus preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
  • years of experience in water resources engineering with emphasis on design, hydrology and hydraulic engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses related to dams, reservoirs, spillways, and hydroelectric facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with civil design of hydraulic structures such as diversions, spillways, fish screens, penstocks, and energy dissipation basins.
  • Strong understanding of engineering practices related to dams, spillways, reservoirs, and hydro infrastructure.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate contract documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports and design documentation for regulatory and client review.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical information in written and verbal English.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Compensation Package
  • Pay Range: $124,000 - $184,000 (DOE)
