Utility Coordination and Design Business Class Director
HDR seeks an experienced leader to technically deliver our Utility Coordination and Design assets, ensuring quality, resource management and project delivery. The role serves as the Technical Leader for this Business Class, collaborating with Business Group executives and other Business Classes.
Key Responsibilities- Monthly coordination calls with Business Class leadership and Section managers.
- Support ongoing development of the Business Class and identify upcoming Projects and Pursuits needing support from National Business Class leadership.
- Review workload and availability of Business Class staff and usage reports to identify staffing needs and workshare.
- Participate in Project Approach and Resource (PARR) reviews and evaluations.
- Perform project reviews or audits to validate quality practices, review technical and performance issues and develop remedial actions.
- Serve as focal point for the Transportation Business Group to deliver Utility Coordination and Design services across Business Groups and Markets.
- Lead hiring, staff interaction, communication, technical development and project assignment for the Business Class.
- Participate in marketing activities by supporting or developing project proposals and staffing assignments.
- Travel nationally as required (≈15% of time).
- Bachelor’s degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
- Minimum 10 years of related experience.
- Professional or Engineering registration and proven technical experience.
- Experience developing and managing diverse, cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other Business Class Directors, Operations Managers, Technical Directors and Marketing Managers.
- Commitment to quality improvement and HDR values.
- Active participation in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
Location is non‑specific; a site with significant HDR presence is preferred. Expected travel is approximately 15% with monthly variations between 15% and 25%.
