Position is expected to start 5/26/2026 and end 8/15/2026.
Maximum of 400 hours (10 weeks), 40 hours per week. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. No work will be performed on the following University of Idaho observed holidays – Memorial Day (May 25), Juneteenth (June 19), Independence Day (July
4).
- Providing education and support in the program areas of health, nutrition, food safety, science and technology to youth and adult audiences.
- Promoting and teaching FCS classes and programs to youth and adults: working with team to design, plan, and run activities/programs; helping set up, teach, and coordinate activities; assisting in tracking and maintaining inventory and supplies; helping gather supplies needed for activities; promoting programs at community events through print and social media.
- Assisting in conducting evaluation: assisting participants in completing evaluation surveys as directed by faculty/staff; completing required reporting paperwork and entering collected data to the FCS educator.
- Assisting in FCS /4‑H projects: developing social media posts for Facebook and other websites; assisting team in providing resources for the Healthy Living projects; providing support for additional projects.
- Contributing to team effort: participating in meetings and training; contributing to the team as directed; accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Preparing an internship experience final report and submitting to the UI Extension Director at the conclusion of the internship.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Must have completed a minimum of 12 credits within the last year (these 12 credits may come from high school dual enrollment credits) and are currently enrolled at one of the following eight Idaho public universities or colleges (private Idaho universities or colleges do not qualify). Priority will be given to University of Idaho student applicants.
- Must provide own transportation and have the ability to travel to multiple work sites. University will follow applicable policies if personal vehicle is used, which may include reimbursement at a pre‑established rate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed coursework in Education, Science, Human Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, Food Safety, Food Science, Nutrition, or other relevant subject areas.
- Outgoing and comfortable working with the public and volunteers (youth and adults).
- Self‑motivated and capable of working independently.
- Experience answering phones, responding to email, and communicating through social media.
- Enjoys working in a variety of settings and environments with various audiences.
Ability to transport supplies and equipment to multiple program sites.
