Psychiatrist - Psycho-Oncology
St. Luke’s Cancer Institute is recruiting a Psychiatrist to join our growing Psycho-Oncology program. This role will focus on providing psychiatric care to adults with cancer across the disease trajectory from diagnosis to treatment, survivorship, and end-of-life. The position is designed for a psychiatrist who values team-based care, close collaboration with oncology colleagues, and practical integration of mental health and palliative approaches into a busy community cancer center setting.
Responsibilities- Provide psychiatric evaluation and treatment for patients with cancer experiencing depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, delirium, or other mental health conditions.
- Offer consultation-liaison psychiatry services for oncology inpatients and outpatients.
- Support patients and families through transitions in care, survivorship, and advanced illness.
- Work collaboratively with oncologists, palliative care clinicians, nurses, social workers, and integrative medicine providers to deliver whole-person care.
- Contribute to care pathways and quality improvement projects that improve efficiency and patient experience in the cancer center.
- Provide education and support to oncology staff regarding recognition and management of psychosocial distress.
- MD or DO degree, board certification or eligibility in General Psychiatry.
- Ideal fellowship training or substantial clinical experience in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in palliative care integration within oncology.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, community-based team.
- Comfort with managing high-volume clinical care in an outpatient setting.
