This Opportunity
Provides high-level technical leadership and strategic oversight on major construction programs by guiding complex project execution, resolving critical field challenges, and advising senior leadership and clients on construction delivery strategies. Applies expert knowledge of construction practices, contract administration, and risk management to ensure that projects are executed in accordance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and WSP's operational goals. Serves as a recognized authority across the organization in construction management, mentoring senior professionals, and leading the advancement of best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement in construction oversight and project delivery methodologies.
Your Impact
* Constructability resource who will work closely with a dedicated civil engineer on the early development and progressive design of high voltage transmission lines and systems.
* Work with project team to provide oversight and input to cross-functional teams of technical professionals to execute project work on preliminary design to 30% design on single or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, deliverables, compliance documentation, and managing the contractual obligations to deliver the project(s) as defined in the contract.
* Play a contributing role in the development of project proposals, cost estimates using work breakdown structure (WBS) tasks, scope, schedules, resource plans, risk contingencies and adherence to the QA/QC plan, as applicable.
* Job requirements are to assist in supporting the design team with the development and constructability reviews of the following project requirements:
* Construction Specifications and Bid Units
* Construction Drawings
* Construction Estimates
* Construction Bill of Material
* Construction Feasibility Studies and Reviews
* Project Documentation Review with Project Teams
* Permitting Support with government agencies
* Environmental Support
* Construction Scope of Work and Schedule
* Collaborate with GIS to create map books
* Develop constructability plan for the following:
* Develop transmission line access road routing network and areas of effect (access road types, guard structures, work areas, landings, lay down yards, fly yards and pulling and tensioning sites) and document in Google Earth.
* Develop conductor pull plans inclusive of pulling location easements and construction step plans.
* Perform and/or participate with field trips for constructability/field verification and planning.
* Available for travel to project locations to perform site investigations and gain information needed for pre-construction planning and preliminary design. Must be able to travel for field trips and constructability reviews for up to a week at a time.
* Participate in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions to leadership and other stakeholders.
* Assist with meetings with clients or other disciplines during design review cycles.
* Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
* Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in construction management or closely related discipline, or demonstrated proven equivalent experience.
* 12+ years of relevant post-education experience in construction management or related areas.
* Recognized subject matter expertise in construction delivery methods, phasing strategies, and technical field operations.
* Proven success leading large, complex construction programs in both public and private sector environments.
* Experience advising on strategic project risks, logistics constraints, and contract compliance.
* Deep knowledge of construction laws, codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
* Proficiency in interpreting complex contract documents, scopes, specifications, and project controls data.
* Experience resolving high-stakes technical disputes and supporting litigation or claim strategies.
* Ability to influence executive stakeholders and contribute to enterprise-wide construction decisions.
* Proficiency with advanced construction management tools and platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and digital reporting dashboards.
