We are seeking a Regional Safety Manager with strong infrastructure and heavy civil construction experience to support multiple complex construction projects. This role will lead project-specific safety planning and performance while supporting corporate safety programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented problem solver with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong working knowledge of OSHA and USACE safety standards.
Key expertise should include: safe work practices for crane lifting and rigging operations, fall protection, confined space entry, structural concrete work, and working on/over water.
Responsibilities- Provide safety and health oversight for multiple projects, ensuring compliance with OSHA, USACE, and other relevant regulatory standards.
- Mentor and guide project management and field personnel on safety-related matters.
- Deliver safety training and manage training compliance for project teams.
- Assist with the development of site-specific safety plans, Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and project-specific work practices.
- Implement company-wide safety initiatives and programs.
- Lead and document incident investigations in accordance with company and project requirements.
- Maintain communication with project stakeholders and relevant regulatory authorities.
- Foster strong working relationships with safety and project management teams, site safety reps, subcontractors, and clients.
- Conduct hazard assessments and inspections, documenting findings and tracking corrective actions.
- Promote a zero-incident culture through the organization’s safety philosophy and initiatives.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a safety officer, site safety manager, or similar role in the heavy civil construction industry.
- One year of experience may be substituted with a nationally recognized Occupational Safety and Health certificate (e.g., CHST, STS).
- At least 24 hours of documented training or continuing education within the past 5 years.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations in heavy civil construction.
- Proven ability to solve problems and implement solutions in high-risk environments.
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) and adaptable to new software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a broad range of stakeholders.
- CHST certification preferred.
- Willing and able to travel by air or vehicle to various project sites (approximately 70% travel).
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate within 1 hour of a company regional office location.
