Looking for a job that matters? Join our after school recreation team as a Youth/Teen Outreach Leader and help create a welcoming, active space for teens in grades 6–12. You’ll assist with games, activities, and daily program operations, serve as a positive role model, and help keep programs running smoothly in a dynamic, school‑based community center.
Essential Functions- Ensures the safety and well-being of all community center after school participants and staff.
- Encourages and engages youths in a variety of indoor and outdoor group recreational activities such as basketball, tag and tetherball.
- Prepares materials and supplies for youth arts and crafts projects and assists participants when necessary.
- Makes sure equipment and supplies are in good working order and notifies supervisor when items need repair or replacement.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
- Working knowledge of computer software such as Word and Excel as well as internet skills.
- Interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner;
- Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public and other organizations;
- Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance;
- Complete assignments in a timely fashion;
- Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations;
- Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- One year of experience supervising youths and teens.
- Current certification in First Aid/CPR.
- Valid state‑issued driver's license
- City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Physical EffortsWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds and frequently lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds. Also, the employee is always pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds and frequently pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. The noise level is always moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Employees will sit, stand, walk, run, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
The work environment will include inside conditions and outdoor weather conditions.
This position works: afternoons/evenings and some weekends
