Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Departmental Specialist to join our 500kV Projects team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. Whatdoes a Departmental Specialist do for us?
Under minimum direction and acting on own initiative and direction, provides complex specialized support for active 500kV transmission line projects including Boardman to Hemingway and Gateway West. Typically supports senior manager and project management staff. Typical duties include maintenance of complicated data systems; research, compilation and analysis of data for reports/studies. Assignments involve work of a confidential nature and require knowledge of the practices and procedures of project coordination, company policies and programs.
Acts as coordinator of departmental projects.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE Knowledge of- Department's functional areas and/or company policies and procedures
- Department-specific systems and software, e.g., MS Office products (Word, Excel, Visio), SharePoint, Teams, Asset Suite, etc.
- Project coordination of large projects
- Contract management and accounts payable
- Transmission line or linear project planning and construction
- Pro Core software
- Communication (written and verbal)
- Organization
- Proficient in the operation of systems and software
- Solid editing and proofreading skills to assist in composing the format and content of correspondence and technical documents
- Track action items and multiple tasks to deadlines
- Review invoices per contract terms
- Produce notes and meeting minutes and document decisions
- Apply proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar when proofreading
- Manage file structure and records retention
- Understand and apply basic mathematical calculations and concepts involving fractions, decimals, percentages, etc.
- Interact with individuals in other departments at all levels
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 or more years of related experience
- An equivalent combination of formal education and work experience
- 2 years of Idaho Power experience
- 2 years of large construction project experience
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record as required for the role
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
