The City of Boise is hiring for an Acquisitions Specialist II at our Library! Main Branch. Be part of the team that keeps Boise’s Downtown collections moving. As a Library Acquisitions Specialist II, you’ll play a hands‑on role in getting materials from delivery to shelf—processing, repairing, quality‑checking, and ensuring accurate bibliographic records in the ILS. You’ll support daily acquisitions workflows, manage mail and incoming deliveries, and help maintain the integrity of the Library’s collection data.

Essential FunctionsHandles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher‑level staff. Is capable of performing all duties of a Acquisitions Specialist I and provides team support and training, as needed. Physically processes materials using established procedures. Performs daily quality assurance checks on entries completed by other staff. Physically mends items in need of repair. Unpacks library materials in all formats and verifies condition and suitability for use.
Locates correct bibliographic records for routine materials to import into ILS. Creates item records for routine materials, merges records as needed and identifies any ongoing issues for cleanup to maintain the integrity of data in ILS. Works on initiatives including, but not limited to pulling and processing discarded materials and pulling holds and shelving. May participate on library‑wide teams. Interacts with delivery personnel and signs for supplies and deliveries.
Receives and sorts incoming external and internal city mail for distribution. Processes outgoing mail. Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in a library or related environment with exposure to complex classification systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge Of- Standard library procedures, policies and materials

- Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
- Perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor, and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Three years of experience in a public library setting with exposure to bibliographic and item records on a regular basis. Specialized training or coursework specific to collections or technical processing in libraries.
Special Requirements- Applicants must be able to pass City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation.
