Overview
Atlantic Coast New York Veterinary Specialists - Bohemia is currently seeking Overnight ER/ICU Technicians to join their team. SIGN-ON BONUS OFFERED FOR QUALIFIED FULL-TIME CANDIDATES!
Position:
Overnight ER/ICU Technician at Pet Vet Care Centers (Bohemia, NY).
- Support hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients.
- Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations and interviews, reviewing care plans and records, completing laboratory tests and studies, and diagnostic imaging.
- Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, drugs, and vaccines, and bandaging and wrapping wounds.
- Assist during examinations and operations by assembling supplies, restraining patients as directed, and aiding the veterinarian.
- Maintain patient medical records and update the database in a timely, accurate manner.
- Ensure a safe, clean environment; sterilize and wrap instruments; sanitize holding and operating areas; manage inventory and supplies.
- Communicate with pet owners about patient status as directed by the veterinarian.
- Fulfill additional duties assigned by the Manager or practice.
- Emergency procedures and critical care support; monitor vitals; place catheters; take x-rays; clean wounds; apply casts or bandages; give injections and collect blood samples.
- On-call in the intensive care unit may be required.
- Care and Compassion, Team Orientation, Dependability, Initiative, Flexibility and Multi-Tasking, Communication, Customer Service, Organization and Attention to Detail, Adherence to Rules and Instructions.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Emergency experience required.
- Two or more years of experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
- CVT, LVT, RVT, or LVMT preferred (or equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience).
- Full-time, overnight schedule experience preferred.
- Full-Time, Overnight Shift
- Thursday to Sunday, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Knowledge of surgery preparation, monitoring, and recovery; basic pet nursing; catheter placement, phlebotomy, emergency medicine, and digital radiology.
- Ability to restrain patients safely; handle hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, anesthetics, and zoonotic diseases; provide professional, mature communication.
- Physical requirements:
lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for long periods; some climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling may be required. - Answer phones and perform other duties as needed by the hospital.
Pay Range: $24.55—$40 USD
