P.W. Grosser Consulting is seeking a Senior Site/Civil Engineer to serve as technical lead for land development and site civil projects throughout Suffolk County and the greater Long Island region. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in grading, drainage, and site design, with a strong command of local and state regulatory processes and the ability to guide projects from concept through construction.
We're looking for someone who is not only a strong technical leader, but is also comfortable building client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and helping grow the practice through business development.
Planning & Design
- Serve as technical lead on site/civil and land development projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal developments
- Prepare and oversee grading plans, drainage design, stormwater management systems, erosion and sediment control plans, and utility layouts
- Develop site plans, engineering reports, and construction documents using Civil 3D and AutoCAD
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater management, detention/retention systems, and drainage conveyance
- Coordinate with surveyors, architects, landscape architects, environmental scientists, and geotechnical engineers to deliver integrated site solutions
Permitting & Regulatory Coordination
- Prepare, submit, and track approvals with Suffolk County Department of Health Services (SCDHS), NYSDEC, local towns/villages, and planning/zoning boards
- Develop stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs) and support SEQRA documentation
- Navigate subdivision, site plan, and realty subdivision approvals across Long Island municipalities
Project Delivery & Management
- Lead project scoping, budgeting, and scheduling; track deliverables and support proposal writing and client presentations
- Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical resource across multidisciplinary project teams
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of site/civil and land development design experience
- Strong working knowledge of grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design
- NY Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and stormwater modeling tools (e.g., Hydro
CAD, HEC-RAS, or similar) - Familiarity with Suffolk County and Long Island municipal approval processes
- Strong technical writing skills; ability to produce clear reports, permit packages, and construction documents
- Valid driver's license
- Experience with public agency and municipal clients (towns/villages, Suffolk County, SCWA)
- Experience managing client relationships and contributing to business development
$180,000 - $220,000 Depending on Experience
