Engineering Technician

This role involves performing test duties and troubleshooting to the component level on complex electrical products. The Engineering Technician will diagnose test equipment or fixture failure and take corrective action, set up and adjust manual and/or automatic test equipment, and collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to clarify designs and suggest manufacturing improvements. Additionally, the Technician will record and report technical problems to Test Engineer, Design Engineer, or Test Supervisor and determine methods and sequences for new assignments.

• Perform test duties and troubleshooting to the component level on complex electrical products.
• Diagnose test equipment or fixture failure and take corrective action.
• Set up and adjust manual and/or automatic test equipment.
• Work with Engineering and Manufacturing on clarity of the design and manufacturing improvements.
• Record and give detailed report of technical problems to Test Engineer, Design Engineer, or Test Supervisor.
• Determine methods and sequences of new assignments and provide guidance to department personnel.
• Cross train to other job functions as required.
• Assign and coordinate work assignments with supervisor to meet department schedule.

• Troubleshooting and testing circuits.
• Proficiency in using oscilloscope and understanding schematics.
• Experience with test automation and hardware.
• Ability to create and follow test plans.

• Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Electronics Technology or 10+ years of practical experience in the aerospace field.
• Prior experience troubleshooting to the component level on aerospace electronics.
• Understanding of basic math and engineering principles.
• Basic knowledge of CAD for simple drawings.
• Understanding of schematics and circuitry.

The candidate will work on the shop floor in a bench technician environment alongside other team members. The work area is not overly loud compared to other companies. Some tasks will be conducted in a cubicle environment, handling basic design work such as test fixtures and straight-line drawings. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bohemia, NY.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
