Senior Test Engineer
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly experienced Senior Test Engineer to lead and manage the design, development, and implementation of test systems, fixtures, and software. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership and oversee the testing of prototype, production, and customer‑returned products, ensuring all tests meet quality and performance standards.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement test systems, fixtures, and software.
- Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution of complex test‑related issues.
- Oversee testing of prototype, production, and customer‑returned products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop and optimize testing processes.
- Mentor junior test engineers and foster an environment of continuous learning.
- Lead failure analysis and root cause investigation for in‑house and customer‑returned products.
- Champion continuous improvement of testing methodologies and process optimization.
- Provide technical support in test equipment selection and integration.
- Review and approve test documentation including test plans and reports.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards in all test activities.
- Support qualification and certification testing as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to drive product improvements and reduce production‑related issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a graduate degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in test engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Expertise in designing and optimizing test systems, fixtures, and software.
- Extensive knowledge of testing techniques, test equipment, and failure analysis.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis techniques and test data analysis.
- Knowledge of electronics manufacturing, including hybrid and PCB manufacturing.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as MIL STDs 883, MIL‑PRF, IPC 610.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop engineering teams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to diagnose complex issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in electrical validation and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in LabVIEW and test automation.
- Experience with oscilloscope and schematics.
The candidate will work on the shop floor in a bench technician environment, collaborating closely with team members. Some tasks will be conducted in a cubicle setting, focusing on basic design work, such as test fixtures and straight‑line drawing. This is a large, busy company where dedication and long‑term commitment (5 to 10 years) are highly valued. The role offers significant exposure to military, aerospace, and commercial electronics.
