Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) - PRN Premium

Location: Our Lady of the Angels - Bogalusa, LA

The Respiratory Therapist participates in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Responsible for managing Life Support systems and responding to medical emergencies within the hospital. The CRT may perform all tasks included in their license practice act within department guidelines and policies. The position relies on education and entry-level training to complete responsibilities. The CRT must function with limited supervision, relying on their education and the guidance of physicians and supervisory staff.

• Ensure compliance with quality standards and check patient records for orders prior to each treatment.
• Explain procedures thoroughly to patients to ensure cooperation and compliance.
• Demonstrate understanding of ventilator management and select interventions appropriate to the patient's age and growth level.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment and oxygen delivery devices used in respiratory care.
• Follow hospital policies regarding PTO and extended illness time, report tardiness, and conform to regulatory and organizational requirements.
• Use Personal Protective Equipment appropriately and adhere to infection control practices.
• Complete required TB skin tests.

• Perform patient assessments and implement care plans, including routine and special procedures.
• Check ventilator orders before making changes and administer therapy according to department policies.
• Monitor and document ventilator parameters daily.
• Perform assessments and procedures such as EKGs, and document findings.

• Communicate effectively with team members, suggest improvements, and demonstrate respect and sensitivity to patients and colleagues.
• Adjust personal schedule as needed, maintain professional appearance, attend educational sessions, and pursue ongoing professional development.

• Respond to fire, safety, and disaster situations appropriately.
• Accept additional work assignments as directed by supervisors.

• Associates Degree or equivalent (or 10 years of licensed therapist experience).
• Graduate of AMA-approved program.
• Successful completion of the NBRC certification exam.
