Job Description
Join our team at Morningside Ministries Senior Living Communities as a Cook in our state‑of‑the‑art Menger Springs Senior Living Community in Boerne, TX. You will prepare nutritious meals for residents, guests, and staff, ensuring high quality standards and food safety.
Job SummaryPrepares food for residents, guests, and employees, and maintains high standards of quantity food production.
Responsibilities- Prepares food to meet requirements.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in the food preparation and serving areas throughout the shift.
- Bakes desserts and rolls, makes salads, special function cakes, trays, set‑ups, etc.
- Requisition s and stores food and supplies.
- Maintains efficient standards of operations.
- Plans for acceptable use of leftovers within 48 hours; properly covers, labels, and stores leftovers before end of shift.
- Checks food temperature and appearance of food.
- Times preparation of foods.
- Supervises Hospitality Associates and Cibolo House Associates.
- Education:
Ability to read, write, make simple calculations, and follow oral and written directions. - Training and
Experience:
One or two years of experience in quantity food preparation is desirable. - Certifications/Licenses:
Texas Department of Health Food Service Manager Certification, or ability to obtain. - Job Knowledge:
Thorough familiarity with foods and their preparation methods, cooking temperatures, and best utilization for meats and other foods.
