Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Teaching & Learning Department and campus principal, an Instructional Coach will provide teacher support and training in the implementation of district-wide curriculum on BISD campuses. The Instructional Coach will assist in development of curriculum-based assessments, monitor program implementation, coach teachers, train personnel, deliver demonstration lessons, lead data analysis, and model best practices to ensure curriculum is implemented in accordance with effective, research-based teaching strategies.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Valid teacher certification.
- Three (3) years teaching experience.
- Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the candidate.
- Master’s degree in education.
- Valid ESL certification (Issued by State Board of Educator Certification).
- Experience in the development and delivery of professional development preferred
- Knowledge of classroom instruction, assessment, and leadership.
- Prior experience with demonstrated capacity for leadership roles.
- Knowledge of TEKS, student expectations, and district curriculum.
- Knowledge of BISD instructional materials and resources.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of district initiatives, including content standards, content area literacy, effective instruction and assessment practices.
- Demonstrate ability to work with multiple grade levels and subject areas.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of the use and interpretation of summative, formative, screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring assessments and resulting data.
- Demonstrate ability to teach staff how to use assessment data to inform purposeful instruction.
- Demonstrate ability to model skillful instructional practices.
- Collaborate with campus/district leaders and colleagues to promote continuous improvement at the classroom, campus, and district level, ensuring high levels of learning for all students.
- Support teacher teams in instructional planning processes and aligned instruction.
- Develop teacher understanding of TEKS and BISD curriculum.
- Support teachers in implementing strategies gained from professional learning into classroom instruction through ongoing interaction, reflection, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Support students in the development of content area literacy skills.
- Observe, coach and provide feedback to teachers regarding all aspects of instruction, student engagement, and classroom environment.
- Develop and provide effective professional learning to adult learners that includes modeling of differentiated instruction (SIOP, GT, scaffolding, etc.).
- Collaborate with content coordinators and campus supervising administrator(s) to ensure coaching impacts student achievement, with an intentional focus on closing student gaps.
- Utilize data from progress measures to meet the campus and district goals.
- Assist teacher teams within and across content areas in interpreting formative and summative assessment data and use assessment information to adjust instruction and improve MTSS outcomes.
- Collaborate with teams using structured reflection to create targeted action steps that lead to personalized student learning opportunities.
- Support, communicate, and model district priorities.
- Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment.
- Attend professional learning to improve content, coaching, and leadership skills.
- Assist district and campus administration in identifying areas for growth.
- Participate in professional learning communities, data teams, and teacher collaboration meetings.
