Summary
St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School is seeking dedicated, faith‑filled teachers who desire to cultivate a love of learning and the Lord among students through the Catholic intellectual tradition. The school opened in fall 2025 with PK3‑6th grade and plans to expand through 7th grade and increase class sections in earlier grade levels. Teachers will immediately report to the principal and carry out school and Archdiocese policies.
PositionResponsibilities
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic classical education and the mission of the school
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by joyfully modeling Catholic Church teachings
- Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and the Archdiocese
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
- Adheres to safety training and protocols daily, ensuring safety of self and others
- Adheres to the Code of Conduct and Faith and Moral Policy
- Takes a solution‑oriented approach in interactions and undertakings
- Acts as a team player; promotes collaboration and commitment to mission, vision, and culture
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Develops and implements lessons aligned with Catholic classical curriculum and pedagogy; meets campus‑wide lesson planning requirements
- Presents subject matter according to guidelines from Texas Education Agency, Department of Catholic Schools, and administrative regulations
- Collaborates with other faculty to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per DSC requirements
- Makes learning accessible for all students by incorporating accommodations and modifications as applicable
- Creates a classroom environment of joyful order for fruitful learning
- Conducts ongoing assessment and uses results to plan instructional activities
- Plans and supervises assignments of teacher aides and/or volunteers, if applicable
- Assists in selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials as required
- Coaches students to develop moral and intellectual virtue
- Supports student behavior per Student Code of Conduct and handbook
- Supervises students during non‑instructional periods (recess, dismissal, etc.) and school‑sponsored activities (field trips, celebrations, etc.)
- Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned
- Maintains accurate, up‑to‑date gradebook; provides narrative evaluations and overall grades
- Establishes and maintains open communication with parents, students, principals, and faculty
- Maintains professional relationships with colleagues, students, and community members
- Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately
- Compiles, maintains, and files all reports and records as required
- Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Participates in faculty development activities to grow in love of the Catholic intellectual tradition and excellence in Catholic classical curriculum
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings; serves on staff committees as required
- Keeps informed of and complies with DCS regulations and policies for classroom teachers
Minimum Qualifications
- Education
:- Bachelor’s degree in or related to the content area taught, or 18 credit hours in the content area, or completion of appropriate state certification exam.
- Experience
: 2+ years of teaching experience preferred. - License and Credentials
:- 12 credit hours in education courses or a valid state certificate per Texas Catholic Conference Education Department standards.
- Technology proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet use.
- Demonstrated competency in the assigned subject area(s).
