Overview

PhD researcher (m/f/x) at the Chair of Applied Microbiology in the field of technical plasmas. The position is fixed-term and part-time (26,5533 hours/week) and to be filled at the earliest possible date.

The doctoral research project aims to optimize the process of plasma-driven biocatalysis as part of the DFG Collaborative Research Center 1316 “Transient Atmospheric Pressure Plasmas - From Plasma to Liquids to Solids”.

The goal of the project is the optimization of plasma-driven biocatalysis in the context of plasma-driven biocatalysis research at RUB.

• Establish and optimize the process of plasma-driven biocatalysis by designing, constructing, and operating a biocatalytic flow system with immobilized unspecific peroxygenases
• Implement biochemical and analytical assays for characterizing the biocatalytic reactions (GC-FID, HPLC) and FPLC-based protein purifications
• Present research results at national and international scientific meetings and contribute to publications in international peer-reviewed journals

• Master’s degree in Microbiology / Biology / Biochemistry / Biotechnology or related subject area
• In-depth knowledge of biotechnology, biochemistry, and microbiology with hands-on experience in at least one of these areas; experience in molecular biology, GC-FID, HPLC, and protein purification is beneficial
• Excellent computer skills, excellent English language skills, and strong teamwork and communication abilities

The position is salaried and based on the collective agreement of the Länder (TV-L). If requirements are met, the employee will receive pay grade E13 TV-L. Further information:  (in German).

The place of work is Ruhr-Universität Bochum. If funded by third-party funds the employee has no teaching obligation.
