When storms roll in, our customers rely on Rack Electric’s service team. We’re hiring a Generator Diagnostics and Preventive Maintenance Technician to ensure standby power systems perform when it matters most. Bring a strong mechanical base, add your electrical know-how, and amplify it with experience (or interest) in ATS, load shedding, and surge protection.

Your impact

You’ll travel to homes and businesses to perform twice-yearly maintenance, install/maintain monitoring devices, and diagnose issues across generators and related components. You’ll log all work in our CRM—no paper, ever—and you’ll rotate one week at a time for emergency on‑call support. During hurricane season, you’ll answer after‑hours and weekend calls so our customers stay protected.

Core responsibilities
  • Conduct scheduled residential and commercial bi-annual maintenance services.
  • Install, configure, and service generator monitoring equipment.
  • Identify and resolve operational problems on generators and associated systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks with precision and proper documentation.
What sets you up for success
  • Professional demeanor—neat, polite, well-spoken, and attentive to detail.
  • Mechanical aptitude required; electrical background strongly preferred.
  • Owns and knows how to use basic electrical/plumbing tools and test gear.
  • Generator experience is a big plus; training provided on features and benefits.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 70 lbs on occasion and working in positions that involve bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling.
  • Comfortable working in extreme heat, wind, and rain.
  • Follows procedures carefully and is open to cross‑training across divisions.

    Commensurate with experience
  • Hours:

    Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; overtime available
  • On-call:
    Rotating schedule required; after‑hours/weekends required during storms and hurricane season
