Veterinary Technician – ER / Overnights
Calusa Veterinary Center is hiring a full‑time ER / Overnight Veterinary Technician. Our ideal candidate is licensed, experienced in animal care and client communication, and passionate about improving the lives of pets and their owners.
What to Expect- Competitive salary of $23.00‑$28.00 per hour, based on skill and experience.

- Nights 7 PM‑7 AM, rotational scheduling, holidays and weekends.
- Client Communication:
Provide status updates, home‑care instructions, pre‑ and post‑op guidance, and direct complex inquiries to veterinarians. - Client Education & Support:
Educate on preventative medicine, wellness care, vaccine requirements, lab procedures, and support hospital financial policies by preparing estimates. - Customer Service:
Greet clients, escort pets to exam rooms, ensure smooth transitions to front desk, and promote practice products and services. - Animal Handling & Care:
Restrain animals, assist in medical/surgical/dental procedures, prepare patients for surgery, administer anesthesia, monitor during surgery and recovery, and administer fluids. - Facility & Equipment Maintenance:
Care for surgical materials, maintain hospital equipment and inventory, keep surgery room, ICU, exam rooms, and treatment areas prepared. - Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate patient records using a paperless system; document procedures, vaccinations, and billing notes. - Pharmacy Assistance:
Assist with dispensing medications, prepare prescription labels, and package medication appropriately. - Safety & Technical
Skills:
Follow DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines; administer SQ, IM, IV injections; perform lab tests, radiographs, ECGs; place IV catheters; perform emergency treatments (bleeding control, external cardiac massage).
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification.
- Proficient in safe and compassionate animal handling.
- Knowledgeable of common disease states and able to alert veterinarians to changes in patient condition.
- Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
We provide excellent patient care with state‑of‑the‑art equipment: digital radiography, digital dental radiography, in‑house labs, CO₂ laser, endoscopy, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, cold laser therapy, underwater treadmill, and ultrasound. Additional services include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, acupuncture, rehabilitation, and pain management. We are an AAHA accredited 24‑hour GP and ER small‑animal practice with 10 doctors, serving the Boca Raton, FL area for over 20 years.
