Overview
The Junior Municipal Bond Trader is a professional dedicated to achieving best execution in trading tax-exempt municipal bonds for Financial Advisors (FAs) within an environment built on teamwork, service, responsibility, diversity, and integrity. This role involves joining a proactive team that drives productivity and delivers excellence in products and services through education, idea generation, and a relentless focus on client-centric solutions.
Whatwill you do?
- Trading and Execution: Execute tax-exempt municipal bond trades (syndicate and secondary) with a focus on best execution and cost efficiency. Evaluate market conditions, assess risks, and ensure optimal pricing. Manage inventory risk within assigned limits, maintain the department's database, and adhere to compliance protocols.
- Idea Generation: Develop and distribute actionable insights on market conditions, including portfolio ladders, swap opportunities, and new-money strategies. Communicate ideas creatively and proactively to FAs while fostering relationships through exceptional service.
- Collaboration: Partner with trading desks, cross-functional teams, and departments (e.g., Business Development, Fixed Income Strategies) to align messaging and identify opportunities. Support team members through backup coverage and contribute to special projects.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay current on regulatory changes, maintain accurate trade records, and ensure adherence to policies and standards.
Must-have:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated understanding of fixed income markets, economics, and investment strategies.
- Proficiency in Bloomberg, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and trading software.
- Series 7 and 63 licenses (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical, marketing, and interpersonal skills.

- Prior experience in fixed income trading or related processes.
