Databricks Data Engineer – Senior – Consulting – Miami, Florida

EY is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Consulting practice. The role is based in Miami but is open to candidates across the country and may require travel to meet with clients.

• Design, build, and operate scalable on‑premises or cloud‑based data architecture.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Optimize data flows for target data platform designs.
• Develop data engineering solutions using Databricks on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Collaborate with clients to understand data needs and deliver tailored solutions.
• Lead end‑to‑end data pipeline development, including ingestion, transformation, and storage.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Communicate complex data concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Manage client relationships and expectations.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in data engineering and cloud computing.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years of data engineering experience focused on cloud solutions.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience with Databricks and Spark for big‑data processing.
• Proven record of at least two end‑to‑end data engineering implementations.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or SQL.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL, and data warehousing concepts.
• Excellent problem‑solving and independent work skills.
• Strong client‑management and communication skills.
• Ability to work within a team and influence multiple stakeholders.

• Strategic thinking and alignment of solutions with business strategy.
• Project management experience for multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Stakeholder engagement, including Executive level interactions.
• Change and risk management knowledge.
• Technical leadership and architectural decision‑making.
• Documentation and reporting proficiency.
• Experience with data quality management and semantic layers.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and GCP data services.
• Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and machine‑learning frameworks.

• Base salary range $106,900 – $176,500 (U.S. all geographies); $128,400 – $200,600 (NYC, Washington, CA excluding Sacramento).
• Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a range of paid time off.
• Hybrid work model: 40–60% in‑office for client‑serving roles.
