Position Summary
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Social Media Assistant, in the Center for Global Engagement - Boca Raton, FL. The Center for Global Engagement is looking for a creative, fast‑thinking Social Media Assistant who loves storytelling and bringing campus life to the spotlight! In this role, you’ll capture vibrant photo and video content at CGE events, craft eye‑catching posts and graphics, and help drive engagement across our social platforms.

- Capture high-quality photos and videos at CGE events to support social media content, marketing campaigns, and digital storytelling efforts.
- Organize and maintain media files for easy access and future content use.
- Develop engaging graphics, reels, videos, and written content for multiple CGE departments.
- Collaborate with staff to gather information and assets needed to create accurate and compelling posts.
- Maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent, timely and strategic posting across all platforms.
- Secure required approvals on all content prior to posting.
- Communicate with departments to share when content is approved, scheduled, or published.
- Schedule social media posts using designated content‑management tools.
- Ensure posts are published in alignment with event timelines and campaign needs.
- Monitor comments, messages, tags, and interactions across all CGE social media accounts.
- Respond to inquiries in a timely, professional manner and escalate issues as needed.
- Support community requests for additional posts or content updates.
- Stay informed on current social media trends, tools, and best practices to keep CGE's content fresh and competitive.
- Propose and implement creative strategies to increase engagement, and followers.
- Track key performance metrics and prepare regular engagement reports for the supervisor.
- Post and update all CGE events on the appropriate departmental website event widgets.
- Ensure event information is accurate, timely, and consistent across platforms.
- Other job‑related duties as assigned.
High school diploma and one year experience in Marketing, Social Media, and/or Photography required.
Submission of social media samples – such as photography, videography, graphic design, or other digital content – is required for consideration. Applicants must provide samples at the time of application by including a link on their resume or uploading a document with the application that contains the link. Applications submitted without work samples will not be reviewed.
Salary$15.00 - $16.00 per hour.

Work Days and HoursMonday - Friday, part time between the hours of 8 a.m.
- 5 p.m. up to 20 hours week.

Temporary PositionsTemporary positions are not established positions and are paid from OPS funds. Temporary positions are usually not eligible for benefits and retirement; however, they may be eligible for health insurance coverage depending on the average hours worked per week. They provide full‑time or part‑time employment in an exempt or non‑exempt employment situation based on job duties and salary in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
