Director of Construction; In-Office

About the Role

The Director of Construction plays a pivotal role in supporting the Vice President of Construction to ensure the successful planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects within the organization and will be responsible for overseeing the installation and execution of telecom infrastructure for our project customer base. The Director will work closely with our VP of Construction in our Corporate office (with travel to construction sites as needed) and liaise with our field construction teams to optimize operational efficiency and service delivery as a critical liaison between field leadership and our Corporate teams.

The Director of Construction will also contribute to strategic planning efforts, risk management, and compliance with safety regulations to uphold the highest standards of operational excellence. Ultimately, this position ensures that construction projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the specified quality, thereby driving the company’s growth and reputation in the construction industry.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration or a related field
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in OSP FTTH construction project management or a similar role within the construction industry (telecom field operations-construction project builds and/or project management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role)
• Strong knowledge of telecom infrastructure, equipment, and industry standards covering underground construction methods
• Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in telecom field operations (MS O365, construction scheduling systems)
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions

• Master’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline
• Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), CCM (Certified Construction Manager), or LEED accreditation
• Experience with advanced telecom technologies and innovations
• Strong understanding of safety and regulatory compliance requirements
• Military experience is a plus

• Assist in the development and management of construction project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
• Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, vendor management, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution and communication
• Monitor construction progress and quality control to ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Assist VP of Construction to develop and implement strategies for field construction to ensure efficient installation and delivery of OSP FTTH telecom system projects
• Assist to forecast and plan for future infrastructure needs and technological advancements
• Align field operations strategies with overall company goals and objectives
• Assist Project Management with RFP, project price proposals and forecasts
• Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency, effectiveness and continuous improvement
• Work closely with the customer interfacing teams to address and resolve any service-related issues, provide excellent service reliability and quality and incorporate customer feedback into operational improvements
• Lead, mentor and advise on field OSP construction projects
• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in telecom technology designs and methods
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance field construction operations and service delivery
• Recruit, train, and evaluate field staff to ensure high performance and professional growth

• This position will require travel to field sites to provide guidance, reporting, and problem-solving as a key liaison between field leadership and VP of Construction
• The role involves working both in an office environment and in the field, overseeing operational activities
