Summary

The Residential Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations for residential owners, residents, and associated property services. This role ensures accurate billing, timely collections, proper revenue recognition, and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. The Residential Accounting Manager collaborates closely with Residential Operations, Property Management, and Finance leadership to support a high-touch residential experience while maintaining strong financial discipline.

Essential Functions

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

• Oversee monthly billing for residential owners and residents, including recurring fees, utilities, services, and special charges.

• Ensure accurate setup, maintenance, and reconciliation of residential owner and resident accounts.

• Review and approve billing adjustments, credits, write-offs, and corrections in accordance with company policy.

• Ensure proper revenue recognition and documentation for residential-related income.

• Monitor accounts receivable aging and proactively manage overdue balances.

• Coordinate collection efforts in alignment with company policy and resident relations standards.

• Prepare and distribute regular reporting on owner balances, aging, and collection activity.

• Partner with operations teams to resolve disputes and bill inquiries quickly and professionally.

• Manage posting, reconciliation, and reporting of residential deposits and payments.

• Oversee daily cash application and ensure correct allocation of payments.

• Reconcile residential sub-ledgers to the general ledger.

• Support month-end close processes related to residential accounts.

• Prepare monthly financial summaries and key metrics for residential operations.

• Maintain reporting on billing, collections, revenue, and owner balances.

• Assist in annual budget planning and forecasting for residential revenue streams.

• Ensure strong controls over billing, cash receipts, deposits, and account changes.

• Maintain supporting documentation for audits and internal reviews.

• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and applicable regulations.

• Supervise and support residential accounting staff (if applicable).

• Train team members on systems, policies, and service expectations.

• Act as the primary accounting point of contact for residential operations leadership.

• Work cross-functionally with Finance, IT, and Operations on process improvements.

• Position is primarily office-based and may require extended hours during month-end close or peak reporting periods.

External Relationships

Regular interaction with Residential Operations and Property Management teams

Qualifications:

Financial planning and analysis, accounts receivable management, reporting skills, forecasting, collections, process improvement, detail-oriented, strong work ethic, self-motivated, positive attitude, accountability, team player.

Education/Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (preferred).

• 3 - 6+ years of accounting experience (property, hospitality, HOA, or residential services strongly preferred).

• Prior supervisory experience preferred.

• Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, billing, reconciliations, and month-end closing.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Yardi, MRI, Oracle, Great Plains, Opera etc.).

• Excellent communication skills with a strong customer-service mindset.

• Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and ability to manage deadlines.

• Knowledgeable of accounting and GAAP is preferred

• Ability to deliver accurate results while working under time-sensitive conditions

• Capable of managing competing priorities while working across multiple departments

• Self-motivated and comfortable working in fast fast-paced and dynamic environment

• Ability to work extended and flexible hours during peak seasons is required
