Overview
Position Summary Simple Venue/Sushi by Bou is an expanding hospitality group with a strong and evolving portfolio, operating a range of concepts across multiple markets. As we continue to scale, we’re seeking a Senior Accountant with multi-unit experience who deeply understands the nuances of hospitality accounting to bring leadership, precision, and strategic oversight to our financial operations. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Senior Accountant will oversee accounting processes across multiple restaurant and hospitality units, ensuring financial accuracy, streamlining systems, and providing operational leadership through timely insights and reporting.
Responsibilities- Lead day-to-day accounting: AP, AR, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and ledger management
- Oversee monthly and year-end closings, including variance analysis and accruals
- Prepare accurate financial statements, internal reports, and supporting schedules
- Reconcile inventory, payroll, prepaids, and COGS across units
- Track fixed assets and manage depreciation schedules
- Prepare and file sales tax and other regulatory filings across multiple jurisdictions
- Support internal and external audits with required documentation
- Ensure accounting practices are in line with GAAP and internal controls
- Utilize tools like Restaurant
365, Toast, ADP, Jonas, or similar platforms - Assist in onboarding new units into accounting systems (POS, payroll, vendors)
- Identify and lead process improvements across the accounting function
- Collaborate with GMs and department heads on budgeting and cost control
- Train and support junior accounting staff and operational managers
- Provide financial insights to senior leadership to inform decision-making
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in hospitality or multiunit operations
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance standards
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting platforms such as Restaurant
365, Jonas, ADP, Toast, or similar - Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
