Recreational Therapist - Blythe, CA

Position: Recreational Therapist
Location: Correctional Facility in Blythe, California
Pay Rate: $61.00 to $63.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time contract, 6 to 9 months (eligible for extension)

Requirements

• Minimum of 12 continuous months of direct patient care experience within the last 3 years in a public or private healthcare setting
• Valid government-issued photo  (Drivers License or Passport)
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• National or California-recognized Recreational Therapist certification
• Up-to-date clinical competencies

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate changes in patient condition to the Director of Recreational Therapy and interdisciplinary treatment team
• Provide feedback on patient response to therapy and progress toward therapeutic goals
• Conduct assessments related to psychosocial, leisure, and recreation skill development
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation aligned with the patients care plan
• Teach coping strategies and stress management techniques to promote balanced leisure lifestyles
• Apply advanced therapeutic concepts to support psychiatric, trauma-affected, and chemically dependent populations
• Demonstrate expertise in group dynamics and facilitate therapeutic group sessions effectively
