Position: Ward Clerk | Northumbria Healthcare - NHCT Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

We are seeking to recruit a ward clerk to join our existing team within Blyth community Hospital.

The successful post holder will be based at Blyth Hospital and will provide day to day admin support to the ward. Shift working is required between the hours of 07:45‑17:15, to work 2 days over 5 days per week.

Responsibilities
  • To undertake reception duties for multi-disciplinary teams including answering the telephone and relaying messages to clinical staff; arranging appointments.
  • To undertake general office administration duties including filing, using Mediviewer to retrieve medical notes and information, scanning and handling post.
  • Booking patient transport.
  • To provide a reception service, acting as first point of contact on the telephone or face to face, for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals.
  • To facilitate good communication with other wards and departments involved in patient care or ward/departmental functioning.
  • To input data regarding all admissions, transfers and discharges onto Patient Administration System.
  • To provide an efficient administration and clerical service to unit staff, visitors and patients.
Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills and awareness of confidentiality.
  • Maintaining good IT skills & recording of patient admissions, transfers and discharges on PAS & Nerve centre.
