We are currently seeking a dedicated professional to join our leadership team as an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON).
Position SummaryThe Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a critical role in supporting the clinical and operational management of the nursing department. This position combines direct resident care with nursing leadership responsibilities and works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) to ensure high-quality care delivery, regulatory compliance, and staff development.
Responsibilities- Assist in directing and overseeing daily operations of the Nursing Services Department, reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON)
- Conduct routine rounds to observe resident care, support nursing staff, and ensure accurate documentation of treatments, medications, and resident conditions
- Communicate with physicians regarding resident care and follow up as needed
- Meet with residents and families to address care-related concerns
- Support the Resident Assessment/Care Plan Coordinator with planning, scheduling, and revising MDS assessments, including RAPs and triggers
- Mentor, supervise, and support nursing staff while promoting a professional, collaborative work environment
- Licensure: Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or nursing leadership experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting (ADON or DON experience preferred)
- Resident-Focused Care: Demonstrated compassion and experience working with geriatric populations
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; infection prevention or related certifications preferred
- Leadership: Strong supervisory, coaching, and mentoring abilities
- Attention to Detail: High standards for documentation, clinical oversight, and infection control
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for resident interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform essential nursing functions, including assisting with resident mobility as needed
