1ST SHIFT PROCESS ENGINEER - BLUFFTON, INDIANA

A Leading Automotive Supplier in the Bluffton, Indiana area needs a 1st Shift Process Engineer. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation. No Sponsorship Available.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This Position reports directly to the Engineering Group Leader. This individual will be responsible for hands-on activities relating to engineering, manufacturing and quality improvement (ISO 9001:2015) for the company. Incumbent is responsible for improving manufacturing and engineering efficiencies. Incumbent must work with manufacturing, quality and purchasing on a variety of projects as assigned by the Engineering Group Leader. The Incumbent is responsible for the development and implementation of engineering improvements in the manufacturing area, as well as assisting manufacturing in all phases of the manufacturing process.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to advance the capabilities and processes to improve manufacturing and quality with a customer focus.
  • Optimize use and utilization of facilities, equipment, materials and manufacturing operations.
  • As a leader of the Continuous Improvement Team, works independently utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma fundamentals on projects yielding cost savings, improved process efficiency and ensured quality.
  • Project oriented and tightly focused with expectations for achievement of measurable cost-savings results, both short and long term, while maintaining necessary quality of part check process.
  • Analyze plant operations using engineering principles and techniques in order to make recommendations to improve efficiency, effectiveness and profitability.
  • Improvement of machine / operation cycle times and driving toward standardization of work methods.
  • Prepare and submit productivity and cost reports to management to inform them of current project status and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Train employees in problem solving techniques and effective utilization of decision-making tools.
  • Develops strong working knowledge of all relevant quality policies, procedures and work instructions associated with the successful performance on this job.
  • Work in a team atmosphere concerning the work activities of tool and project engineers, quality engineers, manufacturing and maintenance personnel.
  • Provide support to manufacturing, quality and purchasing department as directed by the manufacturing manager.
  • Direct responsibility for improving manufacturing efficiencies, rates, standards and processes through interaction with manufacturing and maintenance departments.
  • Responsible for documentation of changes to processes, quality plans and procedures as results of continuous improvement activities.
  • Assist in all APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) functions of new jobs awarded to the Company including all new tooling program launch activities.
  • Responsible for all process routings, bill of material, packaging instructions, as well as work instructions. Please note this take a great deal of open communication.
  • Member of Continuous Improvement Program Team for the plant. Interface with other team members to ensure progress and completion of activities designated by the team.
  • Document need for any detail expenses required for any necessary new equipment or systems as may be required for meeting existing manufacturing processes or continuous improvement goals of the company.
  • Work with die setters to improve on die setting and further knowledge for the set-up position.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • 3-5 years previous work experience in related stamping / welding / manufacturing environment.
  • General knowledge of technologies and methodologies used in continuous process improvement and organizational development initiatives including Lean Manufacturing and the application of Six Sigma methods and 5-S activities.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Aids Manufacturing Manager and ISO Management Representative in identifying training needs. Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs identified for this position.
  • Employee must be able to verbally explain company quality policy and ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management systems.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and diagrams and procedure manuals.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Present and argue a logical, coherent point of view.
