As a Substation Test Technician, lead and perform testing, maintenance and repair of low, medium, and high voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switch gear, motor control and other electrical apparatus in utility substation environments.
Responsibilities- Perform testing on low, medium, and high voltage breakers including Megger, Ductor, Hi‑Pot, Hi‑Current, and Timing tests.
- Complete mechanical work and repairs on breakers, including tear down, refurbishment and parts replacement.
- Paint breakers and parts.
- Wire circuit breakers.
- Utilize and accurately read meters.
- Read schematics and wiring drawings.
- Troubleshoot circuit breaker controls.
- Read and plot time‑current curves.
- Test power and current transformers, including Power Factor and TTR.
- Accurately and consistently document using Power DB.
- Able to work with electrical tools and socket sets.
- 5 years’ related experience in substations, power plants, primary power distribution and related protection and control schemes.
- Minimum 2 years of substation power systems experience.
- Licensures and
Certifications:
NETA 2, 3, or 4 preferred. - Education:
High School Diploma. - Reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications.
- Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors.
- Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, business acumen, management ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English.
- Valid Driver’s license and good driving record.

The expected compensation range for this position is based upon several factors, including but not limited to education, qualifications, prior relevant work experience and work location.
