This full-time position is responsible for operating the wheel loader, roller, and skid steer operator performing various labor duties around the job-site, as needed.
Skills / Qualifications2+ years of experience in construction and at least 6 months front end loader or roller experience. Job Knowledge, Ability to attain certifications as required, Fit for Duty.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Be able to operate a wheel loader to load trucks with rock and debris.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and calling for repairs.
- Update job knowledge by participating in training opportunities.
- Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
- Prepare work by studying and clarifying instructions and diagrams; calculating requirements; gathering supplies.
- Coordinate machine actions with other activities, position or move loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
- Safely move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials using wheel loader.
- Accomplish operations and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Responsible for tasks involving physical labor at construction sites and assisting other workers.
- Operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
- Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones with appropriate training provided.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials with appropriate training provided.
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
- Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards, set braces to support sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble or other waste materials.
- Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools while distributing them to appropriate locations.
