Job Title:

Direct Support Professional

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will be a crucial part of our mission by delivering personalized, compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. Your role will include:

  • Providing direct care
    :
    Assist individuals with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication administration.
  • De‑escalation Management
    :
    Implement strategies that foster positive behaviors and reduce challenging ones, helping individuals thrive in a safe environment.
  • Empowering Participation
    :
    Support individuals in engaging in social and recreational activities that enhance their quality of life.
  • Collaboration
    :
    Work hand‑in‑hand with a multidisciplinary team to create and implement individualized care plans tailored to each person's needs.
  • Documentation
    :
    Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, progress, and goals to ensure individuals receive the best care possible.
Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you’ll need a passion for helping others and a dedication to making a difference. We’re looking for candidates who are:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; additional certifications or education in social work, nursing, or related fields is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or special needs is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques and the ability to implement them effectively.
  • Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation and insurance to travel to client homes or community events.
  • Ability to lift and transfer individuals as needed, and work physically demanding tasks (specific lifting requirements may vary).
  • Strong communication skills
    —both verbal and written—and the ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life.
  • A compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor

  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality.
