The Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement seeks qualified applicants for Liquor Enforcement Officer Trainee positions located throughout the commonwealth. Trainees conduct investigations through undercover operations and uniformed inspections of licensed or unlicensed liquor establishments. They have the power and duty to arrest for violations of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code and related offenses. Upon completion of the Training Academy, Trainees will be assigned to a BLCE District Enforcement Office within the selected region.
Final assignments are based on operational needs. Trainees will be assigned a PSP-owned vehicle for official travel between residence and duty locations.
Work Hours:
TBD, 40-hour work week. Shift: Rotating/irregular shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Pay after academic training:
Group 4, Step 10 ($52,097 annually, after approx. 16 weeks). After promotion to Liquor Enforcement Officer:
Group 6, Step 1 ($55,436 annually, approx. 2 months after graduation during field training).

Description of Work (LEOT Trainee)The LEOT is a trainee position in law enforcement. Upon successful completion of training, LEOTs are promoted to Liquor Enforcement Officer. Training includes approximately 16 weeks and covers:
- Classroom instruction on the Liquor and Crimes Codes, department regulations, procedures, and directives governing liquor-related enforcement.
- Formal coursework and exercises to develop weapon proficiency (lethal and non-lethal).
- Training in courtroom procedures, testimony, and mock trials.
- Physical conditioning and fitness.
- Training in recording information, preparing reports and citations, and handling evidence with proper custody.
- During placement, LEOTs may enter establishments and environments with exposure to alcohol, including undercover duties and open uniformed inspections; issuing citations and enforcing the Liquor Code.
