Maintenance Technician II Job Description

As a maintenance technician, you will perform tasks such as calibrating, performing preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting production equipment in a high-level cleanroom environment, assisting with inventory management of supplies, and fabricating fixtures by utilizing a variety of hand‑powered tools, manual machining equipment. The focus will be on equipment uptime and reliability, preventative maintenance, safety, troubleshooting, controls and automation equipment, and process improvements.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Performs preventative maintenance, conducts calibration, and executes tooling changeovers for production equipment in accordance with cleanroom standards.
  • Utilizes a variety of hand‑powered tools, drill presses, and manual mills to fabricate components or fixtures, and assists in SAP equipment profile creation.
  • Performs wiring and plumbing tasks utilizing schematics detailing pneumatic and electrical circuits.
  • Assists in the procurement of spare parts to maintain reliable inventory levels.
  • Participates in integration of machine components during implementation of equipment.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots cleanroom equipment issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Leverages understanding of PLCs to modify existing product profiles in automated machinery as needed per requirements.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining detailed equipment documentation.
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with Maintenance Manager, fellow technicians, and production team to reach department goals; supports facilities maintenance and manufacturing engineering projects.
  • Strictly follows cleanroom protocols, including the use of specified protective gear and garments designed to maintain a clean and controlled work environment.
  • Integrates on key business processes to influence customer satisfaction, waste elimination, growth, cost effectiveness, and product/system quality.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area, performs duties in a safe manner, and observes approved safety procedures.
  • Completes miscellaneous tasks as assigned in support of the larger organization.
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years or older and have the right to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or equivalent education/training.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and facilities software.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent equipment troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of cleanroom assembly protocols and manufacturing procedures.
  • Ability to set up and operate manual machining equipment (drill, mill, etc.) to fabricate fixtures and components.
  • Ability to wire and troubleshoot control panels and electrical circuits using schematics.
  • Ability to plumb and troubleshoot pneumatic circuits using schematics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software; basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Basic proficiency with PLCs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team setting.
  • Excellent time‑management skills to prioritize projects.
Work Environment /

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to travel between Chaska and Bloomington sites, paid for time and mileage.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn on the production floor, including safety glasses, steel‑toed shoes, and high‑visibility vests.
  • Adherence to cleanroom attire standards is required, using specified protective gear and garments (gown, hair and beard nets, shoe coverings, and gloves) to maintain a clean and controlled work environment.
  • This role involves working from elevated heights at times; use of harness and other protective equipment is required.
  • This role involves repetitively pinching, grasping hand tools, twisting, and bending.
