Job Title: Behavior Technician (BT)
Job Type:Part-time to Full-Time
Location: Burnsville/Apple Valley Area
Starting Hourly Wage:$21-25/hour based on background and experience

Position SummaryThe behavior technician plays a key role in supporting individuals with complex behavioral, mental health, and/or medical needs. This direct care position involves implementing behavior support strategies, assisting with daily living skills, and promoting community inclusion under the guidance of a Lead Designated Coordinator.
QualificationsCandidates must meet one of the following:
Associate’s degree (or higher) in a human services-related field (e.g., psychology, social work, education, behavioral health)
Two years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, plus 50 hours of documented training in human services
Preferred Experience:
Working with high-behavior individuals (e.g., physical aggression, self-injury)
Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings
Familiarity with Positive Support Strategies or behavior management approaches
Knowledge of 245D regulations, vulnerable adult law, and person-centered practices
Additional Requirements:
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and clean driving record
Ability to pass DHS background check
Strong communication, documentation, and crisis management skills
Reliable attendance and schedule flexibility
Provide 1:1 direct care and behavioral support in home and community settings
Implement positive support plans, crisis protocols, and interventions per each individual’s support plan
Support with daily living tasks such as hygiene, cooking, cleaning, and transportation
Document behavioral observations, daily notes, and incidents clearly and promptly
Monitor healthcare needs and administer medications as directed
Coach life skills, coping tools, and social communication strategies
Attend trainings, supervision meetings, and contribute to team collaboration
Assist with onboarding new staff and sharing knowledge of plans and routines
Engage individuals in meaningful activities and ensure safety and dignity
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (site-specific)
Support physical transfers or mobility assistance
Frequent walking, occasional stairs, kneeling, crouching, or standing
Travel between locations and community settings required
