Position Overview

Our Industrial Market is expanding due to new work in Data Centers, and increased work in the Water/Wastewater and Campus energy sectors of our business. We are adding Electrical/I&C Designers to our Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering (KIWE) team in various locations. Location

This position can be based out of locations where we have Kiewit offices (Lenexa, KS, Lone Tree CO, Bloomington MN, Houston TX, Westlake TX). Opportunities for flexible work are available and we offer relocation assistance to our Lenexa, Kansas district office.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize Smart Plant and Revit 3D design tools to design and draft drawings for electrical systems for buildings and industrial facilities, including wiring, power distribution diagrams, electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, raceway design/sizing, equipment layout, cable management systems and sizing of cables, grounding layout, lighting, lightning protection, equipment locations and conduit layout.
  • Utilize codes and standards to complete assignments with little supervision.
  • Identify changes in the scope of work during a small project and produce design changes as needed to stay within budget and schedule.
  • Takes initiative to meet or exceed the quality and expected outcome requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Perform assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize productivity, while complying with company standards to produce quality deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minimum of 4 years Electrical and/or I&C design/drafting experience, which includes experience working in 3D and 2D. If no degree, High School diploma + 8 years’ related experience.
  • Intermediate AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit or Microstation skills, experience with design/drafting for drawings, P&IDs, One Line Diagrams, panel designs, electrical layouts. Develops and presents work in well‑constructed written and verbal presentations.
  • Works collaboratively across departments and involves others in solving problems. Initiates meetings within own team, other disciplines or internal customers for clarity on work.
  • Supports project teams and departments with design support for drawings, specifications, IO lists. Works well with others to accomplish common goals and objectives. Understanding of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE standards.
  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities with set expectations and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with multi‑disciplined teams, and subcontractors for equipment. Experience with design for construction preferred;
    Design/Build, EPC project experience preferred.

Base Compensation: $70,000 - $131,500 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
