Construction Materials Testing; CMT Laboratory Technician Co-op; Bloomington

Overview

Braun Intertec is seeking students pursuing degrees in civil engineering, construction management, or related field; and other interested candidates to join our Bloomington, MN office for 3 and 6-month Co-op opportunities.

Chosen Co-ops will receive in-depth technical training and industry certifications upon successful completion of examinations and demonstration of ability. As a Co-op, you will have the chance to get hands-on experience in a variety of laboratory testing fields which include: aggregates, soils, bituminous, and concrete testing. The primary responsibility of the position is to receive, prepare, and test concrete, soil, and aggregate specimens.

No lab experience is necessary, but the chosen candidate(s) will receive in-depth technical training for the position. Candidates should be able to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis, take direction and work well with a team.

This position has two possible shifts:
Monday – Friday (6am – 2:30pm) or Sunday – Thursday (9pm – 5:30am). We are offering a $2 shift differential for the overnight shift.

• Receive and sort materials
• Test concrete cylinders
• Process soil and aggregate samples
• Proctor testing of soil samples
• Gradation testing of aggregate samples
• Maintain work equipment

• A demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical concepts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A safety focus and attention to detail
• Related work experience in materials testing or construction is a plus

• A High School diploma or equivalent
• A valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• The ability to lift 50+ pounds
• Full-time commitment for the duration of the internship/co-op

Please note that the compensation range shared is based on an annual salary. Our co-op opportunities are approximately six months in duration at an hourly rate of $20 - $23.

Compensation Range: $36,000.00 - $54,000.00
