Key Responsibilities
As a technical lead substation design engineer for FACTS projects, you will:

• Lead design for distribution, sub‑transmission, and transmission‑level voltage classes.
• Utilize safety and regulatory standards (IEEE, IEC, NEC, NESC, NERC, ISO/RTO) to define project requirements and review deliverables.
• Conduct research to locate required white papers, brochures, publications, or standards and bring yourself up to speed on non‑standard aspects.
• Convey technical information to stakeholders with varying expertise.
• Lead internal discussions with owner engineering teams to close out technical or project management topics.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to lower‑level team members.
• Coordinating with internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.
• Assisting with client interest identification and communication.
• Delivering presentations to management and clients when required.
• Serving an administrative role in ensuring policies, procedures, and processes are implemented, approving timesheets and expense reports.

Preferred Qualifications

• High‑voltage (HV) substation design experience – physical and/or protection & controls.
• Project lead and technical specialist experience overseeing utility substation clients and projects.
• QA/QC review experience.
• Experience communicating with clients, multidisciplinary leads, and project managers.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
• Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle record search).

Work Environment / Physical Demands
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion.
